Battle ready the game

The show itself has been pretty open about its politics since the beginning, so it wouldn't be surprising. In the original The Boys comics, Soldier Boy was essentially the predecessor to Antony Starr's sexy and unhinged super celebrity Homelander. Homelander currently serves as leader of the famous superhero team The Seven, which was basically created exclusively to be a marketing gimmick for the sinister Vought Corporation. Thanks to the use of the "Compound V" serum, Soldier Boy was given powers in a sort of twisted version of the classic Captain America origin story.

Except rather than becoming a wholesome beacon of integrity like Cap, Soldier Boy has a decidedly less snuggly personality. There are sure to be plenty of surprises when The Boys season 3 launches. Several other new characters like Laurie Holden as the Crimson Countess have already been teased for the season, so it looks like the show's titular superhero-fighting team of misfits will have a lot more targets this time around.

The "evil Superman" story has been told every way imaginable. Dark stories are great, but maybe it's time for a hero everyone can believe in again. Share Share Tweet Email.
