Thursday, June 28, PM. Why not simply change the font by editing the Style in the Normal template? Or create a template the with required formatting of the Normal Style? The thing you are looking for can be simply done by changing the font from the normal style. There is no need to record a macro for such things. Your IT department should be able to roll out an updated Normal template or a different new template a whole lot easier than it would be for you to ensure everyone runs the macro - which you couldn't ensure the running of without adding it to the Normal template that I am in IT!
Yes but everyone's normal templates are unique unfortunately, we do have a standard one but people add their own things and the last thing we want is a whole bunch of secretaries saying things have changed in word etc etc.
I just want to be able to do it all myself instead of letting them do it :. Community Resources. Follow Us. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback.
I am the only user of this computer and many other computers over many years , with never a permission problem, so I don't understand why this has arisen. I did try to look for the normal. This looked promising, except that I got stuck at 2 , which only had Document Templates 0 file s.
I also tried Word Documents , but this just included my own documents, but no Template. Perhaps Word 97 is different, though the Default problem only arose recently. I'm going a bit by memory since I don't have such an old version of Word wow has it really been 20 years?! This annoyance is related to how user files like the normal template aren't supposed to be stored under program files folders those are supposed to be read-only, but no one followed that rule two decades ago , and of course now for security it has to be that way or every website you visit would have total control over your programs.
As you know, I did get to the Normal. Right click on the Word Icon , then click on Run as administrator , brings up the User account control. Selecting Yes brings up a blank Word file with Tahoma I suppose I could just use A.
However, A and B actions remain as described above. Thanks Shawn. I came across this accidentally trying a few things immediately after my last reply on July 4. As far as I can recall, I right clicked on Run as administrator, which brought up a window not sure if I had to select from it with a slider set mid way between No permission and Full permission or words to that effect.
I moved the slider to the bottom, which solved the problem, enabling me to set the Font Default. Very strange! I followed your kind advice to access Normal. I had to log out and try again, to send this post, which fortunately I compiled in Word. William Mac. I have the same question 1.
